PEORIA
POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL ACCIDENT
On
August 18, 2005 at approximately 11:30 A.M., Peoria Police
Department Traffic Services Section Officers were called to an
accident which resulted in the death of a 59-year-old Glendale man.
The victim was driving a black GMC pickup truck northbound in the
southbound lanes of 75th Avenue. Witnesses say he ran a red light,
striking the rear side of a semi truck which was traveling eastbound
through the intersection of Northern and 75th Avenues.
The driver, whose name has not been released pending notification of
family members, was taken to a local hospital where he was
pronounced dead. The driver of the semi truck was not injured.
Traffic Investigators are still on the scene. The intersection of
Northern Ave. and 75th Avenue is expected to remain closed into the
evening hours.
