SALUTES ITS FINEST
Seven Peoria Police Department Officers
and Employees were honored by Police Chief David Leonardo last week
for being voted Employee of the Quarter.
Employees are nominated by their peers for having an exceptional
work ethic and a drive to go above and beyond what’s required.
Nominations are reviewed and voted on by an Awards Committee made up
of employees, both sworn and non-sworn, from throughout the
Department. Below is a listing of those exemplary employees voted
Employee of the Quarter.
Communications Supervisor Tanya Watson was named Civilian
Supervisor or Manager of the Quarter. Tanya was nominated for her
willingness to step up and volunteer to fill in wherever there’s a
need. She was also recognized for her interpersonal skills,
especially her ability to get her team to work together.
Public Education Specialist Ann Bowers was named Civilian
Support Staff of the Quarter. Ann was nominated, among other things,
for her work in Peoria schools, with the Citizens Police Academy and
with various Block Watch Programs.
Communications Specialist Lori Binns is the Communications
Specialist of the Quarter. Lori was recognized for her dedication to
the Communications Bureau and her ability to work not only with her
team, but also with the public when taking calls coming into
Dispatch.
Officer Jeff Hite is the Officer of the Quarter. Officer Hite
was recognized for his willingness to share his knowledge of Peoria
with newly sworn officers and to offer them guidance and mentorship.
Officer Norm Bacon is the Specialty Officer of the Quarter.
Officer Bacon was nominated because of his outstanding work ethic,
dedication to traffic enforcement, and his commitment to reducing
collisions and remove intoxicated drivers from Peoria streets.
Sgt. Doug Steele is the Sworn Supervisor or Manager of the
Quarter. Sgt. Steele was recognized for his ability to motivate and
lead his team in the Criminal Investigations Bureau.
Police Services Officer Gary Bethards is the Uniformed
Civilian of the Quarter. Gary was recognized for playing a critical
role in the Department’s Animal Control Unit, specifically for his
dedication to protecting wayward or neglected animals in Peoria. |
