On Saturday August 5th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Peoria Police Department will host a Golf Ball Drop Fundraiser Event for Special Olympics at the Peoria Sports Complex Stadium. As part of the event the Police Department will have police equipment on display and there will be other organizations on hand with safety information, including a VIN etching, so you can get your vehicle’s identification number etched on your windows to help prevent auto theft. There will be activities for kids of all ages, including a Dunk-A-Cop tank and fingerprinting.

At noon a Native Air medical helicopter will drop golf balls on to the stadium’s outfield. The semi-finalists with the six balls closest to the Peoria KIA flag will meet at Peoria KIA on Saturday August 19th for a chance at winning a new KIA. In addition, contestants can instantly win a variety of prizes if their ball lands closest to other flags marking those prizes.

Golf balls will be available for purchase the day of the event or you can call 623-773-7063 for more information regarding the event or where you can purchase a golf ball. The golf balls will be on sale for $10.00 each and you need not be present on August 5th to win the instant prizes or to qualify for a chance to win a new KIA.

This event is in support of Special Olympics Arizona and is part of the 2006 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. So far this year the Peoria Police Department has raised over $10,000 for Special Olympics Arizona.
