Softball tournament to benefit paralyzed
Peoria Officer Bill Weigt to be held

Saturday, June 24 starting at 8:00 AM there will be a softball tournament to support Peoria Police Officer Bill Weigt, who was paralyzed after being shot on December 17, 2005. There will be 22 teams of public safety employees from all over Arizona as well as a team from Luke Air Force Base competing in three levels. The three levels are coed, men’s recreation, and men’s competitive.

There will also be a raffle of autographed sports items with the drawing being at 4:00 PM. Raffle tickets will be on sale for $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00. The Arizona Diamondbacks and Luis Gonzales arranged to have the items autographed, and Gonzales autographed a tournament ball for each team as a thank you for their involvement.
