On Thursday, June 8th at about 4:10 PM Peoria Police and Fire units responded to an airplane crash on the side of a mountain in the Quintero Golf and Country Club, 16752 W. State Route 74. This site is located west of Lake Pleasant in the far north end of Peoria. Upon arrival crews found the two victims dead and still in the plane.
It appears the plane was heading in a southeast direction when it collided with the side of a mountain just below the north crest and came to a rest on the south side of the crest. There were no witnesses nor did anybody hear the crash. The plane was observed on the side of the mountain by a construction worker in the area who notified authorities. The cause of the crash is unknown and is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.
