SECOND SUBJECT ARRESTED AFTER SENIOR PRANK Suspect information Matthew Christopher-Scott Poes Male DOB: 07-01-87 Booked on: 4 counts - Interfering with Educational Institutions 2 counts - False reporting 2 counts- Misuse of 9-1-1, Peoria City Code On Monday, May 22, at 11:45 AM officers from the Peoria Police Department responded to Peoria High School reference a subject on the campus armed with a hand gun. The campus was already on lock down due to another incident nearby. Cheyenne Elementary School, which is located west of Peoria High School, was also placed on lock down. A search was conducted of the Peoria High School campus and at 1:10 PM the search was completed with negative results and the lock down terminated. The call for this incident was placed from a cell phone and through the enhanced 9-1-1 system, the Peoria Police Department was able to determine some of the information in the call could be false. The caller told the 9-1-1 operator that he was no longer in the area and was calling from 67th Avenue and Cactus. The cell phone he was using was GPS enabled and Police were able to pinpoint the caller to the Peoria High School campus. When the subject was confronted about this he terminated the call. Peoria’s Criminal Investigation Bureau conducted the investigation and the identity of the suspect was determined. Detectives arrested Poes this morning at his home. The suspect was booked into the Peoria Police Department on charges of interfering with educational institutions, false reporting and misuse of 9-1-1, a Peoria City Code violation. Based on information developed by Peoria detectives it is believed the two incidents at Peoria High School on Monday were not related and merely a coincidence that they occurred so close together. ### |
