Lieutenants
Graduate from Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety
The Peoria Police Department is proud to
announce the graduation of Lieutenants Scott Lekan and Robert
Sanders from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern
University.
Lieutenants Lekan and Sanders completed the 10-week program on April
29, 2005. The School of Police Staff and Command provides
upper-level college instruction on topics including Management,
Organizational Behavior, and Human Resources for Law Enforcement,
Budgeting, Staffing Allocation and Personal Deployment. The
curriculum includes academic examinations, projects, quizzes and an
extensive research paper. Upon successful completion, students may
be awarded a total of 18 semester college credit hours from
Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
The Center for Public Safety was established at Northwestern
University in 1936, with the specific goal of expanding
university-based education and training for the Law Enforcement
Community. Since its inception, the Center has broadened its
original objective and now provides a variety of courses and
programs in the area of Police Training, Management Training, and
Executive Development.
The Peoria Police Department anticipates a variety of benefits from
Lieutenants Scott Lekan and Robert Sanders graduation from this
program. Many graduates go on to achieve a variety of leadership
positions within their respective agencies.
