Vehicle Burglaries and Thefts are impacting
Arrowhead Fountains Center Recent information released by the Peoria Police Department’s Crime Analyst shows since the first of February Harkins Theater has had eleven vehicles burglarized and three vehicles stolen. Abuelos Mexican Restaurant, Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs and the Fox and Hound have also had vehicles burglarized and one attempted stolen vehicle. These crimes appear to be occurring on Saturdays and Sundays between 7:00 PM and midnight with Ford F350 trucks being the number one vehicle to steal. The suspects in these crimes frequent these locations as they know the owner of the vehicle will most likely be away from it for an extended period of time. They also know they will go undetected due to the crowded parking conditions and the customers going to the establishments are focused on their night’s activities and not their surroundings. The Peoria Police Department with the help of the community can prevent these crimes. Some of the things the public can do to help us are: • Watch for any subjects standing around vehicles. • Get good descriptions of the subjects and any vehicles they are with. • Call 9-1-1 if you see subjects acting suspicious or attempting to break into cars. • Report any car alarms you hear sounding. The Peoria Police Department recently started a Commercial Enforcement Unit (CEU). This team of officers is dedicated to reducing criminal activity in areas such as this. Their goal is to keep it a safe and enjoyable place for a night out. With the assistance of the community and businesses by reporting suspicious activity quickly and being good witnesses, the CEU can stop the criminals from targeting this location. ### |
