Peoria Police to continue
making it tough on impaired drivers Governor Office of Highway Safety Awards Grant The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has awarded the Peoria Police Department a grant to continue our strong DUI enforcement efforts. The Alcohol and Impaired Driving Incentive Grant was for $40,000 and runs through September of 2007. This grant provides overtime funding that will allow us to participate in DUI Task Force events throughout that time. The money will be used to conduct saturated enforcement efforts at least one time per month. During the months of August and September of 2007 we will conduct at least four special impaired driving enforcement operations since this is the time for the National “Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest” campaign. The Peoria Police Department is committed to keeping impaired drivers off our streets so they are safe to travel on. This is another example of how the members of the Peoria Police Department are committed to our community and its quality of life. ### |
