John Quinones, ABC News anchor and host of the popular ABC Primetime news
show, "What Would You Do?" is the keynote speaker for the Third Annual PACE
Conference on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at the Arizona Broadway Theater in
Peoria. Hosted by the city of Peoria and Arizona State University, the PACE
Conference, or Positive Action through Civic Engagement, is an initiative to
enhance public participation within the communities in Arizona to help
government officials make collaborative and informed decisions.
The 2013 PACE conference, "Breaking the Sound of Silence," will feature panel
discussions from experts on the use of social media to engage others in
meaningful conversations, and how to oppose an issue in a positive and
meaningful way, through civil discourse and effective compromise.
In addition to the keynote presentation by Quinones, Emily Nottingham, Ph.D.,
mother of Gabe Zimmerman, who was killed in the January 2011 mass shooting in
Tucson at a community event hosted by former Congress woman Gabriel Gifford's,
will speak about the role of public service in communities.
The PACE Conference is designed for citizens seeking to become, or stay engaged
in their community, leaders in the business, education, and government
communities, and elected officials. The conference will demonstrate ways for
engagement which is positive, constructive, and that makes a difference.
