Peoria General Plan Review Underway
Two Major Amendments Proposed
6/11/2012
PEORIA, Ariz. (June 12, 2012) - The city's annual
General Plan Major Amendment 60-day review period is underway. Each case request
can be reviewed and commented on by visiting
www.peoriaaz.gov/2012generalplanupdate, at city of Peoria libraries, or the
Planning and Community Development Department, 9875 N. 85th Avenue. Comments
must be received by Aug. 13. The public will have an opportunity to address the
Planning & Zoning Commission on Oct. 18 and Nov.1, and the Peoria City Council
on Dec. 4.
The amendments include: GPA 12-0002 Aggregate Mining - a city-initiated
amendment that identifies all known and state-registered aggregate mining
operations within the city's planning boundary and establishes goals,
objectives, and policies that require compatible land uses adjacent to existing
and future mining operations; and GPA 12-0003 Lake Pleasant Heights - a
privately-initiated amendment that proposes changes to the existing Lake
Pleasant Heights Specific Area Plan, located south of State Route 74 and El
Mirage Road. This amendment addresses the entire 3,268 acres and increases
overall project density, commercial acreage, and removes resort/golf course land
uses.
