Peoria Council Member Leone selected to National Committee
Leone to help develop leadership and activities training programs.

PEORIA, Ariz. (January 31, 2012) – The National League Cities of has selected
Peoria city Council member Carlo Leone to serve on its 2012 Leadership Training
Council (LTC). His appointment runs through November 29, 2012.
As a member of the LTC, Leone will help develop leadership and activities for
NLC members. The NLC is the largest organization devoted to strengthening and
promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance. Working
in partnership with the 49 state municipal leagues, NLC serves as a resource to
and an advocate for the more than 19,000 cities, villages and towns it
represents. More than 1,600 municipalities of all sizes pay dues directly to NLC
and actively participate as leaders and voting members in the organization.
"This is quite an honor for me," said Leone. "I believe good training and
education helps make better city government, so this position allows me to share
my experiences with others."
Councilman Leone has achieved the level of Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and
Diamond certification with the National League of Cities Leadership Institute
and serves on the Human Development and Leadership Training Committees. There
are 37 city officials from around the nation serving on this national committee
for the NLC.
Leone, as a LTC council member, is expected to attend all of the LTC
meetings including the Congressional City Conference (March 10-14, Washington,
DC), the Leadership Summit (September 20-22, Charlotte, NC), and the Congress of
Cities & Exposition (November 27-December 1, Boston, MA).
Councilman Leone was first elected to the Peoria City Council in May 1999,
representing the Pine District, and was reelected for a second term in 2003. He
was reelected to a third, four-year term in September 2007. In August of 2010,
Leone was re-elected to a fourth, four-year term. Councilman Leone has been a
resident of Peoria since 1988. He retired after 20 years as a union manager.
