Peoria Mayor Chosen to Lead Regional Water Group

Mayor Bob Barrett has been named president of the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association board of directors. The association is a voluntary, non-profit corporation established by municipalities in Maricopa County to develop urban water-resources policy. Several other Peoria officials participate in the group’s leadership structure. Deputy City Manager Susan Thorpe is president of the management board, which makes recommendations to the board of directors. Robin Bain, Peoria’s water resources and environmental manager, leads the Water Resources Advisory Group; Leeann Spahos, the city’s environmental coordinator for water resources, heads the Conservation Committee.
