Workshop Teaches Youths How to Baby-Sit Younger Kids

Peoria is offering a child-care and baby-sitting safety workshop for youths ages 10 to 15 on Saturday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rio Vista Recreation Center. The seminar is intended to prepare participants for the responsibilities of caring for infants and children. It will teach basic CPR, how to help someone who is choking, basic first-aid techniques and child safety practices. Registration is $43 for Peoria residents, $50 for non-residents; the deadline is Wednesday, July 6. To sign up, call 623-773-7137 or visit www.peoriaaz.gov/recreation. Each student receives a workbook and a babysitting-safety certification card. Bring a non-perishable snack, drink, pen and paper to class.
