Public Open House Set For
Beardsley
Road
Connector Design Concept Report
A public open
house featuring the Beardsley Road Connector Design Concept Report will be held
Monday, July 25 at the Church of Joy Community Church located at
21000 North 75th Avenue
(Northwest corner of Beardsley Road/Loop 101 and
75th Avenue).
The event will begin at 6 p.m. with an open house where residents can view large
boards of the recommended alternative for the Beardsley Road Connector and the
“Texas U-Turn” interchange planned at Loop 101 and Union Hills Drive as
developed by the City of Peoria and the engineering firm, Carter & Burgess.
A presentation will be held at
6:30 p.m.
with questions and answers from approximately 7 to 7:30 p.m. at which time the
event will return to the open house format at the large display boards.
This final public meeting caps a year-long effort to solicit and discuss public
input on this project. A series of
meetings in the latter part of 2004 featured presentations to allow residents
from both
Peoria
and
Glendale
to learn about the project and to provide input.
This project has been a multi-
jurisdictional effort with the City of
Peoria
being the lead agency and the City of
Glendale
and The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) providing project input.
Goals for the
project, which have been met, were to:
Include the
citizens of
Peoria
and
Glendale
in the design process through providing opportunities for education and
solicitation of feedback
Minimize
neighborhood impacts
Reduce congestion
on major city streets (such as 83rd and 75th Avenues and
Union Hills Drive
)
Improve regional
traffic access within
Peoria
and
Glendale
