Geocaching

Geocaching is like a high-tech treasure hunt! This relatively new activity uses GPS satellites and handheld receivers to guide participants to hidden "caches". These cashes contain loot and logbooks that track who has found the hidden location before. This highly addictive hobby is great for kids and adults of all ages and is a great family activity. You would be surprised as to how common these hidden caches are. They can be found in parking lots, public parks, hiking trails, etc.

Introduction to Geocaching

This introduction to Geocaching will take participants on a treasure hunt tour of the expansive Rio Vista park. Find "caches" hidden in plain site that will progress you through the game. The course should take 1-2 hours for beginners to complete. A brief introduction to Geocaching, equipment and etiquette will start off the class.

Advanced Geocaching

This advanced Geocaching will take participants on a more complicated treasure hunt tour of the expansive Rio Vista Park. Clues will be available if necessary.  Once caches are found, participants will learn how to make their own cache and how to use the global geocaching website.  Participation in Introduction to Geocaching is recommended, but not required.
