Philosophy
Volunteer coaches are our greatest assets in delivering quality programs to the children in our community. Youth volunteer coaches are "special" because they directly influence each team members’ experience either positively or negatively. The average coach has approximately 36-40 contact hours with parents and participants facilitating practices, making phone calls and attending games. It is our hope that this program will assist us in recruiting, motivating and maintaining the best possible volunteer coaches. The end result is hopefully to increase attendance at coaches meeting, have coaches in place 7-10 days before season begins and have all coaches trained, educated and certified prior to the season in an efficient manner.
How the program works
The interested coaches register his/her child and pays for the registration. If selected or appointed as a head coach, a credit will be placed on his/her account equal the amount of the Child’s registration upon completion of the season and all coaching related criteria. This credit can only be used towards a Community Services program, and will only be granted after receiving a credit request from the coach in writing. Credit given is only good for Early-bird registration fees.
Qualification Criteria*
A coach is eligible for a maximum of one (1) credit per sport each season. (Regardless if coaching multiple teams or having more than one (1) child participating). Credit is only given if a coach completes the entire season and fulfills all requirements listed below.
- Complete Coach's Application
- Fingerprint and background check
- Coaches clinic
- Attend coaches meeting
- Equipment return
*Incentive program available for head coach positions only
How Teams Are Created
The process of creating teams for youth sports can be complex. The criteria below is used to aid in the placement of players and to create a priority for which players might be placed with a certain team or coach. There are always extenuating circumstances that might cause a change in this criteria. In most cases this will be the order in which players are placed.
- A coaches family members will be placed with that coach
- Players returning to a team/coach from the most previous season
- Players requesting to be with other specific players
- Common (nearest) school with other rostered players
- Any other scenario
At no point will a coach be allowed to request specific players be placed on their roster unless they are direct family members or a verifiable hardship exists.
