Councilmember Bill Patena's Biography
Councilman William (Bill) Patena was elected to the Peoria City Council in November 2012.
Personal Information: Married to my wife, Linda for 41 years and have two grown sons. I have been a resident of Arizona for 26 years and a resident of Peoria for 16 years. I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio and am an alumnus of Ohio University. I enjoy playing golf and spending quality time with my family.
Professional Experience: I spent the last eighteen years of my professional career with the City of Peoria as their Neighborhood Services Manager and retired almost four years ago. During that time, I managed the Dial-a-Ride, Public Housing, Community Development Block Grants and the Peoria Neighborhood Pride Programs. Prior to working for the City, I was the Executive Director of Garden Park Enterprises, a school and workshop for mentally and physically challenged children and adults. I was also the Program Director for United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona where I was responsible for the Occupational and Physical Therapy Programs and Early Intervention Programs for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy. Prior to moving to Arizona, I managed a workshop for persons with disabilities and taught special needs children.
I am very excited to be serving as the new Councilmember for the Ironwood District. I come with a strong interest to maintain the quality and stability of our neighborhoods and look forward to this great opportunity to work directly with citizens on community issues.
Many residents may not realize the vast amount of city programs available to help enhance our neighborhoods, including grant opportunities and community support. I hope to bring these services where they are needed most, to ensure each neighborhood receives the attention it deserves.
I encourage all residents to become involved in our city and contact me with any ideas or concerns.
