Peoria's Environmental Report Card
Peoria measures its success in achieving environmental sustainability by participating in several benchmarking efforts.
Valley Forward
The Valley Forward Association brings business and civic leaders together to convene thoughtful public dialogue on regional issues and to promote cooperative efforts to improve the environment and livability of Valley communities. Their Environmental Report Card, issued every four years, is one way Peoria is measured in the area of environment and sustainability. In 2004, Peoria had some strengths, but also clearly had some room for improvement.
The most recent report card (issued in March of 2008) shows significant progress in the last four years - Peoria earned grades of "A" in each category:

Valley Forward cited the city’s efforts in adopting progressive policies and ordinances (including our dedicated transportation sales tax), pursuing LEED practices, and public education in this year’s report card.

The Arizona Smart Growth Scorecard provides communities, counties and regions with a clear, usable means of evaluating how prepared they are for growth pressures and to help spur action on local and regional approaches to growth and development issues.
