- A Special Use Permit has been received for an Inert Reclamation Facility for former mining property east of the 115th Avenue alignment between Northern and Olive Avenues. The intent of the use is to fill in the former mine pits with inert materials such as concrete, asphalt, sand, gravel, dirt, and construction debris. This filled land will be compacted and graded to match the original grade of the land and be suitable for future redevelopment. Please click here for further information.

About the Planning and Zoning Division
The Planning Division of the Planning and Community Development Department is composed of dedicated employees who are responsible for the development and implementation of the City’s current and long range development standards and policies. The Planning Division serves as advisory staff to the citizens who make up the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Adjustment, the Design Review Board and the various City hearing officer positions.
Activities
Current planning activities of the division include the review and coordination of zoning cases, subdivision plats, site plans, the administration of design review requirements, variance requests, use permits, sign permits, zoning ordinance amendments, and petitions for annexation. Long-range planning activities of the division include the administration, maintenance and amendment process to the City’s General Plan, preparation of various long-range planning reports and studies and project management of long-range planning related consulting projects.
