The Community Services Department is responsible for both, programs and facilities in the following divisions:
Parks
This division plans and conducts the maintenance of city parks, most right of way, trails, open space and most retention basins. It also designs and develops the Department’s Capital Improvement Plan, performs plan reviews for new planned area developments and oversees graffiti removal throughout the City. Recreation Programs
The Recreation Division offers a wide variety of programs, activities and classes for children, teens, adults, seniors and people with a disability. Offerings include: after school programs, summer programs, aquatics programs, sports, teen programs, adaptive recreation programs, senior programs, outdoor recreation and special interest classes. These programs are offered at several City run facilities including the Peoria Community Center, Peoria Pool, Centennial Pool, Sunrise Pool and Family Center, various City parks and the Rio Vista Recreation Center. The Recreation Center is a versatile, family friendly facility which has amenities to promote healthy lifestyles.

Library Operations
The Main Library and Sunrise Mountain Library offer adult, teen and youth programs and services such as Storytimes, Summer Reading Programs, Computer Classes, Teen Advisory Groups, Book Clubs, and special events. They also offer free Wi-Fi, free public computers, a variety of databases, access to free e-books, and interlibrary loan services. In addition to great book collections and free DVD, CD and audio books, they now offer free music downloads and a new language database. The library system has also joined the Valley-wide Culture Pass Program.

Special Events
The City of Peoria hosts many exciting special events throughout the year for our community. Whether it's the annual 4th of July All American Festival or the Halloween Monster Bash in October, there is plenty to see and do at each special event for the entire family.
Sports Complex
Peoria Sports Complex, contains 13 full sized baseball fields and is home to the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres for Spring Training and year round player development. The complex hosts various baseball tournaments, concerts, arts and crafts festivals, car shows, corporate events and other community events. This sports facilities division also oversees the maintenance and operations of the Rio Vista Community Park which features lighted softball/little league fields, multi-purpose sports fields, a splash park, skate park, lighted sand volleyball courts, a playground, walk/jog paths, an urban fishing lake and group picnic ramadas. It also includes an over 51,000 sq. ft. Recreation Center, a veteran’s memorial, trail system connections and privately operated batting cages and deli.
