Check back here often for new additional questions. Where is the Peoria Municipal Court? The Peoria Municipal Court is on the Peoria Municipal Campus at 8401 W. Monroe St. Visitor parking is located off East Cinnabar Avenue on the upper level of the parking garage. What are the court's hours? Can I see a judge in person? Court hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and court clerks are on duty to handle inquiries in person or by phone at 623-773-7400. If a clerk cannot resolve the concern, it may be possible to speak with a judge during “open court,” which is on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Most people who have received traffic tickets are scheduled for open court. I have heard of the "Peoria Justice Court." How many courts does Peoria have? There are TWO different courts that serve Peoria: • The Peoria Municipal Court on the municipal campus. The presiding judge of the Municipal Court is the Hon. George T. Anagnost. This court has jurisdiction over criminal misdemeanors, traffic citations, city code violations, orders of protection and injunctions prohibiting harassment. Its phone number is 623-773-7400. • A separate court, the Lake Pleasant (formerly Peoria) Justice Court, has relocated to the Northwest Regional Court Center in Surprise. The presiding justice of the peace is the Hon. John C. Keegan. Justice courts handle civil and contract disputes; small claims; marriage licenses; orders of protection and injunctions prohibiting harassment; landlord/tenant matters; and both felony and misdemeanor criminal charges. The Justice Court operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 14264 W. Tierra Buena Lane. Its phone number is 602-372-2000. If cited into court, it is important to note in which court you have been ordered to appear. Look for a checked box with an address at the bottom of the summons. If you go to, or call into, the wrong place and miss your court date, you could be arrested! What are orders of protection and injunctions prohibiting harassment? How do I obtain one? Orders of protection and injunctions prohibiting harassment (sometimes called “restraining orders”) offer protection for someone who is the victim of domestic violence, harassment or stalking. The Peoria Municipal Court and Peoria Police Department have created a brochure to guide people through the process. Click here to download “A Guide to Protective Orders.” If you have additional questions, please call the Peoria Municipal Court at 623-773-7400 or the Lake Pleasant Justice Court at 602-372-2000. The request should be printed legibly and include the petitioner’s name, address, phone number and case number. Extensions are granted only for good cause. Do not assume one has been granted merely because it was requested. If you have not received a new court date, you must appear on the date and time for which you originally were scheduled. Does a parent have to appear with a juvenile? At least one parent or guardian must appear with a juvenile (under age 18) at each court proceeding. Where can I get a marriage license?
