The Plan represents the results of a truly collaborative planning effort involving citizens, business interests, the Planning and Technical Advisory Committees, planning practitioners, affected jurisdictions and agencies, community leaders and other stakeholders.

WHAT IS THE GENERAL PLAN? The General Plan is the "constitution" for growth and development in the community. It provides the fundamental policy direction and guidance on development decisions in the City. The General Plan contains elements for the following topic areas:

  • Land Use
  • Circulation
  • Economic Development
  • Growth Areas
  • Revitalization & Redevelopment
  • Housing
  • Public Services and Facilities
  • Recreation and Open Space
  • Environmental Resources
  • Water Resources
  • Cost of Development
  • Safety
  • Plan Administration

WHERE CAN I REVIEW THE GENERAL PLAN?  The General Plan elements and maps are available here to download.  Additionally, the Plan can be reviewed at the following locations:

  • Peoria Public Library

    on the City Hall Campus

HOW DO I VIEW, SAVE OR PRINT THE DRAFT?  

These web pages are presented in Adobe PDF format. To view them you need to have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. If you need more information on PDF files and how to get the reader software, click here. The menu on the left should bring the elements of the plan into this window. Once loaded you can zoom in, read them, save them for later viewing or print them out.

PLEASE NOTE: These files are very large. If you have a dial-up modem internet connection, (28.8KB or 33.6KB), they will take a long time to load. You may also save them directly, by right clicking the link and choosing either "Save link" or "Save target", depending on your web browser. The Maps are even larger, and we recommend downloading them unless you have a high speed internet connection. Even so, you will need to zoom in on these maps to view significant detail.
