Bill Due Date Changes

Over the last ten years, the City of Peoria has experienced tremendous growth. As the City has grown, the number of residences and businesses that have utility accounts with the City has also grown. In fact, the number of accounts billed by the City has grown from 29,000 in 1998 to 51,000 in 2008.

In order to manage the City’s growth and the meter reading and billing processes, the City has created smaller billing areas, or “cycles.” The new cycles will allow the City to bill existing and new customers more efficiently. The bill cycle restructuring also takes into consideration expected future growth within the City.

For more information, please see the Frequently Asked Questions located below, call the Customer Service Center at 623-773-7160, or visit the Customer Service window located in City Hall.

Billing Cycle Restructuring Most Frequently Asked Questions:

Why is billing cycle restructuring necessary?
The City's utility billing cycle restructuring is necessary because of the rapid growth in the number of utility accounts. The restructuring will allow the City to bill customers in smaller, more efficient cycles.

Who will be affected by the changes?
Only customers with City of Peoria Water Service will be affected. Customers with only sewer and/or refuse service will not be affected.

What are the benefits for the customer?
The bill cycle restructuring will also ensure customers receive a bill right after the meter is read. The change is expected to reduce wait times for customers calling or visiting the Customer Service Center located in City Hall.

How will this affect my bill?
Customers will continue to receive a bill each month. However, the bill/due date may change, depending on which bill cycle the account is in. For a map of the new billing cycles and information on new billing dates, please click here.

How will this affect the amount of my bill?
The bill cycle restructuring will not affect the amount a customer is billed. The change will only affect the date a payment is due.

Will this affect customers on Autopay/Express Pay?
The autopay deduction will occur on the new due date stated on the bill. No changes are needed, the City will automatically draft the chosen account on the new due date.

What if I pay my bill on-line?
If you use a bank or credit card bill paying service, you will need to change your bill paying date. Please review your new bill carefully to find your new due date.

Will the bill cycle restructuring affect a customer’s winter sewer average?
The bill cycle restructuring will not affect the calculations of a customer’s winter sewer average.

How will customers be notified?
The City will send out information on the bill cycle restructuring as an insert with the September bill. There will also be continued updates on the City’s website at www.peoriaaz.gov.
