Grand Avenue,
SR 101L to
McDowell Road
Project Description
In 2006, the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) completed
the grand Avenue Major Investment Study Phase II (SR101L to McDowell
Road) which evaluated the need of various roadway improvements along
the Grand Avenue corridor from SR101L to McDowell Road.

The recommended improvements and
implementation plan was further broken into the following three
project phases as it relates to
proposed improvements within the City of Peoria limits:

Improvements
Phase 3 of the MAG RTP Highway
Program has no money programmed for Grand Avenue Improvements within
the Study Area.
In 2008, the Arizona Department
of Transportation in coordination with the Cities of Phoenix,
Glendale and Peoria and completed a Design Concept Report which
further refined the recommended improvements included in Phase 1.
Recommended improvements for
Phase 1 within the City of Peoria include median and roadway
landscaping, street lighting and wrought iron fencing along the
Railroad side of the corridor from approximately L101 to Cotton
Crossings (83rd Avenue realignment).

Project
Status
ADOT is currently under contract with Kimley-Horn
& Associates to complete the final design documents for the
proposed Phase 1 improvements. Design is scheduled for
completion in Spring/Summer 2010 with construction beginning in
the Fall of 2010.
