Project
Description
The City
of Peoria (City) is working to complete the street widening
improvements on Lake Pleasant Parkway, between Westwing Parkway
and Loop 303. The City will be widening the current
two-lane configuration to a four-lane configuration with
sidewalk and bike lanes. The City anticipates the widening
of the
roadway to a six-lane facility in the future. Improvements will
include a new signal at Lake Pleasant Parkway and Westwing
Parkway, enhanced median landscaping, streetlights, sidewalk,
trail connection and new sewer and waterlines.

Project Status
The
project Design Concept Report was completed in Spring 2010. Federal Highways and ADOT gave a notice to proceed for design,
using Federal funds in July 2010. Final design and right-of-way
acquisition began in summer 2010. The Environmental Clearance
was reviewed by ADOT and Federal Highways, and was completed in
May 2011. Relocation of the El Paso Natural Gasoline was
completed ahead of schedule on November 4, 2011.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2012, with a two-year
construction duration. Request for Qualifications using a
2-step procurement process was advertised in October 2011.
In January 2012, the City using a qualifications based system
short-listed three contractors that will be bidding on the
project.
