Cotton Crossing - Phase II Improvements
Project
Description
This project is the second phase of a joint
effort project between the City of Peoria and a private
developer (Wal-Mart) to extend the existing recently constructed
6-lane Cotton Crossing arterial roadway south crossing the
Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad tracks and
intersecting with Grand Avenue.
The new Cotton Crossing/Grand Ave intersection will be a
signalized intersection owned and maintained by the Arizona
Department of Transportation. In addition, roadway improvements
to Grand Ave will be required at this intersection to account
for new turn lanes and roadway pavement grade adjustments.
Furthermore, in cooperation with another developer, Cotton
Crossing will eventually be extended southwesterly from Grand
Ave ultimately connecting to the existing 83rd Ave/Mountain View
Rd intersection. That project is tentatively scheduled for
construction in late 2008 to early 2009.

Project
Status
Construction is currently underway for this
project. 24-hour traffic restrictions are in place along
Grand Avenue between 84th Avenue and 75th Avenue. Traffic
is being channeled down to one lane each direction for several
months while paving, grading and utility improvements are being
completed on Grand Avenue. Please note that left turns may
be prohibited and be sure to allow yourself extra time to get
where you are going. In addition, please do not move
barricades or traffic signs as they are in place for your
protection. The anticipated construction completion date
for this project is Spring 2010, however, it could be sooner.
