AGUA FRIA TRUCK ROUTE
Project
Description
Truck traffic from mining
operations in the Agua Fria River between Bell Road and Happy
Valley Road has been a concern to residents in the area. In
October 2008, the Maricopa Department of Transportation (MCDOT),
the City of Surprise, the Arizona Rock Products Association (ARPA),
and the City of Peoria collectively partnered and identified a
need for an alternate truck route that would allow maximum
efficiency for the mining operations and promote enhanced
traffic movements, public safety and health. The Agua Fria Truck
Route Study expands upon the July 2007 MCDOT alternative truck
route study and examined the previous alternatives along with
additional alternatives that were suggested after the 2007 study
was completed.
The
Agua Fria Truck Route Study recommended a preferred alternative
as an extension of 112th Avenue from Rose Garden Lane north
along the east bank of the Agua Fria River to Pinnacle Peak
Road. The City of Peoria is moving forward with a final
technical evaluation and final design and construction.
