Avenue and Olive Avenue Intersection Improvements
Project
Description
This project
includes design, ROW, construction, and construction
administration for the capacity
improvements to the intersection and vicinity to accommodate
additional turn lanes (both right and left), and additional
through lanes determined through an analysis and projection of
traffic data. Improvements will include: paving, curb, gutter,
driveways, medians, pavement marking, signing and striping,
street lighting, sidewalks, pedestrian access ramps,
landscaping, landscape irrigation and utility relocations. The
traffic signal will be relocated and modified to direct
additional turn lanes and thru lanes. Traffic signal
interconnect conduit and related facilities will be included in
the project.

Project Status for
Summer 2009
The City of Peoria
has submitted a Federal Fiscal Year 2009 close-out application
to the Maricopa Association (MAG) for region federal funds.
As a result of the application, the
project is on hold
waiting for the potential MAG close-out funds. Federal
Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) projects can
qualify for up to 100% funding. This could be an
additional $2.5 million for this project. The widening
project by ADOT is anticipated to start in late summer to fall
of 2009 and have a 6 month duration.
