Northern Avenue to Mountain View Road
Project
Description
This project will widen and/or reconstruct 83rd Avenue from
Northern Avenue to Mountain View Road to include two lanes in
each direction, bike lanes and a raised landscaped median.
In addition, this project will include intersection improvements
to the 83rd Avenue and Olive Avenue intersection, including but
not limited to, adding of dual left turn lanes, dedicated right
turn lanes, raised medians and traffic signal improvements.
Currently, 83rd Avenue from Northern Avenue to Olive Avenue is
in the Maricopa County jurisdiction. The City ,
with this project, intends to annex the County portion of 83rd
Avenue (roadway right-of-way only) to the City. Also
included with this project are Butler Drive Street Improvements
from 83rd Avenue to 79th Avenue, construction of new underground
storm drains, utility relocation, utility service laterals,
landscaping, street lighting, curbs, gutters and sidewalks.
This project will be coordinated with the planned City of Peoria
Community Park No. 2 which will be located at the southeast
corner of 83rd Avenue and Olive Avenue.

Status
Currently the City of Peoria is beginning the
solicitation process to select an Engineering Consulting firm to
prepare the design documents needed to move forward with
construction. it is anticipated that the design will be
Summer/Fall 2009 (FY10), utility and land acquisition in 2010
(FY11), and construction beginning Summer/Fall 2011 (FY2012).
