Approval of Minutes from November 1, 2006 Cathy Carlat called meeting of the Recycling Citizen’s Advisory Committee to order at 6:15 p.m. at City Hall, Pine Room, 8401 W. Monroe Street. She asked the Committee to review the draft minutes from the November 1, 2006 meeting. Fred Brill motioned to approve the minutes and Karen Garbe seconded the motion. Minutes were approved. The meeting minutes will be posted on the city’s website. Cathy thanked all members for attending the meetings and reminded them again about the two main goals of the committee: 1) to recommend whether or not to implement curbside recycling and 2) suggest ways to address residents’ concern. 2. Review Marty Rozelle summarized the past three meetings with the committee and reviewed their goals and information presented from various sources throughout the past weeks. Marty reiterated the information presented to the group was presented by various sources; ADEQ, citizens and Federal guidelines. Marty reminded everyone they were in the home stretch of their commitment on the committee and voiced her appreciation to the many hours they committed to this Advisory Committee. 3. Presentation Review The committee viewed the presentation. The presentation was presented by the committee’s three spokespeople, Julia Babler, Sharon Fletcher and Fred Brill. Julia presented the introductory portion, Sharon Fletcher presented the facts regarding recycling and sources where the information was gathered by the committee, and Fred Brill presented the portion on finances and citizen concerns. The presentation states the recommendation of the Committee to implement curbside recycling in Peoria. The three committee spokespeople will present the presentation at the City Council Study Session on November 14th at 4:00 pm in the Pine Room at City Hall. The presentation was reviewed by everyone and comments were voiced to the group. Marty made note of them and updated the final version of the presentation. The final presentation will be forwarded to the committee members via email. 4. Call to Public Councilmember Cathy Carlat made a call to the Public. Mr. Gary Albert voiced his opinion on recycling. He said the committee was complete in their facts and findings and agrees with the committee that Peoria should implement a curbside recycling program. He mentioned he would send comments to Jesse Duarte for future reference. 5. Final Words Final words were spoken. Councilmember Carlat and Marty Rozelle thanked the committee for their efforts and commitment. Jesse thanked everyone on how well the committee worked together as a cohesive unit. Councilmember Evans gave her congratulatory remarks and said everyone did an excellent job and the group was intelligent and worked well as a team. The committee congratulated Marty Rozelle for her leadership skills. Marty reminded everyone to come and support their fellow members at the City Council Session on November 14th at 4:00 pm. She also reminded the committee that they will give a presentation to the City Council to implement a curbside recycling program at the regular Council Meeting on December 12th. 6.
