CITY OF PEORIA, ARIZONA COUNCIL CHAMBER FEBRUARY 29, 2008 A Regular Meeting of the Council Not-for-Profit Review and Housing Sub-Committee for the City of Peoria, Arizona, was convened by Chairman Barrett in open and public session at 8401 West Monroe, Peoria, Arizona, February 29, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. Members Present: Chair Bob Barrett; Members Vicki Hunt, Ron Aames Members Absent: Ken Compton Others Present: Bill Patena (Neighborhood Services Manager) and Carin Imig (Management Analyst) Audience: None Comments from the floor on non-agenda items: There were no comments from the floor on non-agenda items. Disposition of Absence: Member Ken Compton’s absence from the February 28, 2008 meeting was approved. Minutes: None. REGULAR AGENDA NEW BUSINESS: Proposal Hearings – see attached presentation schedule. Committee Action: Funding recommendations to present to City Council were made. The Committee approved changes to the City run Peorian’s Assisting Residents (PAR) Program in order to help sustain the program financially. There will now be a spending limitation on air conditioning and other cooling device repairs and replacement of fifty percent (50%) of the total project funding. Appeals by households in need of assistance after the limitation has been reached can be heard by the Neighborhood Services Management Analyst, Neighborhood Services Manager or Community Development Director. There will also be a lifetime program assistance amount of $20,000 per household. The lifetime assistance includes assistance from the PAR Program and the Community Services of Arizona “Emergency Rehabilitation Program.” The amount of assistance from these two programs, either individually or combined, shall not exceed the $20,000 limit set by the Committee. There will be opportunity for the Neighborhood Services Management Analyst, Neighborhood Services Manager or Community Development Director to approve an appeal of the spending limitation.
