CITY OF PEORIA, ARIZONA Lake Pleasant Conference Room Thursday February 14, 2008 A Regular Meeting of the Economic Development Advisory Board of the City of Peoria, Arizona, was convened by Chairman, Joe Hull in open and public session at 8401 W. Monroe Street, Peoria, AZ 85345 at 12:06 p.m. Members Present: Keith Dines, Joe Hull, Jay Cross, Shelley Bade, Curt Smith, and Russ Ullinger Members Absent: David Bentler and Jack Lytle Municipal Officials Present: Steve Prokopek – Economic Development Director, Debbie Pearson – Executive Assistant, Scott Cooper – Economic Development Coordinator, Steve Bleyer – Management Analyst, John F. Wenderski – Deputy City Manager, Carl Swenson – Deputy City Manager, Vicki Hunt – Vice Mayor, Cathy Carlat – Council Member, Dawn Boyer – Council Assistant, Kelly Corsette – Public Information Manager, and Susan Thorpe – Deputy City Manager. Others Present: Seth Blumen CONSENT AGENDA Disposition of Absence: Discussion and possible action to excuse absent member, Curt Smith from the January 10, 2008 meeting. Minutes: Approval of minutes from the January 10, 2008 meeting. Motion was made by Russ Ullinger, seconded by Curt Smith to approve minutes and excuse absences. Upon vote, the motion passed unanimously. REGULAR AGENDA NEW BUSINESS: 1. Steve Prokopek gave updates regarding the ED work plan: a. He will monitor progression of deadlines b. Will move forward with finding a consultant for hospital study c. Would like to have two subcommittees for hospital and university studies 2. Steve Prokopek gave updates on recruitment status for the Business Development Specialist position: a. Interview is scheduled. Hope to have a decision in the next few weeks 3. Scott Cooper gave updates on façade program: a. Working with Kelly Corsette to create tri-fold brochure, fact sheet and create web page b. Samples will be available at the March EDAB mtg. 4. Discussed moving golf event to the Fall and focus on bringing client prospects to Spring Training 5. John Wenderski gave budget and Loop 303 updates DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Steve Prokopek shared information from the February 9th Council Retreat: ? Barry Broome, CEO of GPEC, gave a presentation about GPEC.
