A scheduled meeting of the Public Safety Retirement Board, representing 
Police employees of the City of Peoria, Arizona was convened at 8401 W. 
Monroe Street in open and public session at 8:05 a.m.
 

Members Present:  	Mayor Bob Barrett , Chairman
			Barry Goodman, Member
			Ken Gentry, Member			 
			Richard Scrivens, Member

	
Members Absent:		David Block, Member (Excused Absence, Work)


Staff Present:  	Nancy Fantasia, Human Resources Analyst
		        Dee Campbell, Executive Assistant
        
        			
Others Present:  	Rex Elliott

	
Call to the Public:	There being no public present, Chairman Keegan 
called for the first agenda item.
        

Note:  The order in which items appear in the minutes is not necessarily 
the order in which they were discussed at the meeting.

        
Minutes:

Richard Scrivens moved to approve the minutes of February 22, 2007, as 
presented.  Motion was seconded by Ken Gentry and carried unanimously.


NEW BUSINESS:

Application for Accidental Disability Retirement:	 

Nancy Fantasia advised the Board Rex G. Elliott submitted an accidental 
disability retirement application.  

Barry Goodman moved to accept the application of Rex Elliott for accidental 
disability retirement. Motion seconded by Ken Gentry and carried unanimously. 


The Board was then advised that an Independent Medical Examiner (IME) should 
be appointed  pursuant to ARS Section 38-847.D.9 to perform an independent 
medical evaluation of the applicant.  The Board nominated Dr. John Beghlin, 
Phoenix Spine Consultant, 2525 W. Greenway Rd, Ste 114, Phoenix, AZ 85023 to 
be the IME, with Dr. Irwin Shapiro, 6036 N. 190th Ave, Ste #206, Phoenix, 
AZ 85015 as a back-up choice as IME in the event Dr. Behglin was unavailable.

Richard Scrivens moved to accept Dr. John Beghlin, Phoenix Spine Consultant, 
as the primary IME with Dr. Irwin Shapiro as a back-up choice as IME for 
accidental disability retirement.  Motion seconded by Ken Gentry and carried 
unanimously. 
 
Adjournment:

Being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was duly 
recessed at 8:09 a.m.
